Document redaction is the permanent removal of sensitive or legally protected information from a record before it’s released, so it can’t be seen, copied, or recovered.

What is the difference between redaction and deletion?

Redaction removes specific sensitive information from a record while the rest of the document stays intact and can be released. Deletion removes the entire file or record.
