Overview
Over the past 27 years, the USAF's Military Personnel Data System (MILPDS) has undergone significant evolution, transitioning from outdated Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) applications to modern platforms. The modernization was essential to meet increasing demands for better accessibility, security, and functionality.
Problem
The main challenge was upgrading to a contemporary, integrated system with web services, single-sign-on, and advanced data analytics, while minimizing disruptions for service members worldwide.
Solution
DTSI transitioned MILPDS from COBOL applications to new systems through several key initiatives:
- Web-Services Migration: Developed self-service platforms for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) line access to personnel data.
- Single Sign-On Implementation: Enabled seamless access Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) s to various HR systems with a unified login.
This modernization improved MILPDS functionality and reliability globally, allowing millions of service members to securely manage their data. Using Agile methodologies, DTSI accelerated response times, enhanced service delivery, and improved system maintenance.
DTSI has configured and confirmed software releases for a cumulative configuration accuracy rating of 97% (632/652), exceeding the threshold rating of 80%
